Gregg Melzer gave the
Treasurer’s report.
The Club layouts will be taken to
the Division 5 NMRA show in Kirtland, Ohio at Lakeland Community College on
March 15 and 16, 2008 with set-up Friday night at 6:30 PM. The Hi-rail and
tinplate layout will be there.
Discussion was had about the
problems with TCA regarding the York meet, and Lee reported that he had heard at
the last TCA Chapter meet in Parma, Ohio that the problems had been straightened
out. The Great lakes Division of the TCA has had great success in holding its
past few meets, and has thanked us for bringing our layouts to these shows. A
division meet is set for Saturday, March 29, 2008 (see President’s Message.
Ed.)
Lee McCarty reported that we have
been invited to the Boy Scouts Jamboree at the Lorain County Fairgrounds on
October 3-5, 2008. He also noted that the Boy Scouts should be available to help
set up and take down the hi-rail layout to earn points for merit badges. Chuck
Fonda pointed out that this was the same time as the NMRA Division IV meet to be
held in Berea, Ohio. Discussion was had about whether both events could be
handled by the club in light of the President’s Message in the February
Newsletter. This will be reviewed
at future meetings.
Discussion was had about how the
Club sends layouts to train meets. Chuck Fonda pointed out that the club has
traditionally operated under the structure of the Vice-President being
responsible for deciding what layouts, if any, would go to various meets, with
the assistance of the layout captains for the tinplate, hi-rail and scale
layouts. Owing to the cancellation of the January meeting and the holidays
things were not handled this way, but this procedure should be followed in the
future.
It was announced that there is
need for a chairman for the Club Flea Market, tentatively set for August 24,
2008. Please contact any of the officers at their contact information as needed.
Also, literature is need to pass out at the NMRA show and future shows.
Jeff DuChae is still selling the
Sherwin Williams tank cars on Ebay. There are not many left (Hallelujah!). Tom
